GMFA Memorial Scholarships 2025

We are proud to offer memorial scholarships in the names of four influential builders of our football program.

Brian Agnew

Brian Agnew was universally respected in Moncton's football community for his technical knowledge of the sport, his coaching skills and especially for his leadership. He led teams to several Provincial and Maritime championships. Along the way, he received the NB Football Lifetime Achievement Award and was a finalist for NFL Canadian Coach of the Year. Brian made a difference in a lot of people's lives; he was engaging, a positive leader, mentor and motivator to all who had the opportunity to work with him. He had a heartfelt interest in the successes of his players, fellow coaches, referees and administrators. In football and in life, Brian was a true champion.

Edwin Edmonds

​​​​​​​Ed Edmonds was a consummate volunteer. He was a Cub/Scout/Rover Leader and was actively involved in the community, organizing parades, Maritime Band Festival, beauty pageants and assisting with the Silver Broom ceremonies.

He is a life member of the Moncton Football Association, and the New Brunswick Football Officials Association. He proudly held many positions in football, locally, provincially and nationally and has won many awards for his involvement. At 70, he retired from on-field officiating and took on the official role as a timer for all games at the Rocky Stone field and for the Mount Allison football team, retiring at age 92.

Nestor Charuk

​​​​​​​Nestor Charuk was the CEO of Co-Op Atlantic having served in various positions within the company for over 42 years. Nestor brought a professionalism to Moncton Football during his tenure as a board member and President of the MFA.  He was the father of 5 outstanding athletic children, one of whom (Alan) was winner of the Hec Creighton Award as Canada’s best University Football player and played 8 seasons in the CFL.  Nestor Charuk is a Life Member of the Greater Moncton Football Association.

Stephen Mullin

An Honorary Lifetime Member of the Moncton Football Association and recipient of the Football Canada / Canadian Football League Award of Merit, Stephen Mullin has long been dedicated to the sport. He began coaching in 1968, leading the Moncton Pee Wee Lancers to local and provincial championships. He served as president of the Moncton Football Association and Football New Brunswick, the latter organization recognizing him for 25 years of service in 1992. He was named Coach of the Year by the MFA in 1971 and 1981.
